Parametric Modeling Practising in Revit---Al Zorah Pavilion
For project one, I choose the Al Zorah pavilion which is a landmark in Ajman, it is the first project to be implemented on site, as part of the city’s redevelopment. The structure is a 4 500 Msq multifunctional center dedicated to Administration, Culture and Entertainment overlooking the mangrove of Ajman.
The pavilion is designed with a very sensitive approach to the site, in symbiosis with the landscape. It is conceived as a simple geometric form standing in the desert as a landscape within another. It rests under a canopy, a folded roof reminiscent of the existing topographical strata leading down to the water.
After I did analysis on the project, I found the volume of this building is not regular, so the mass model I should concentrate on the its shape and the roof is all clad with zinc shingles protecting the pavilion from strong sunlight and simultaneously blocking the noise from the nearby highway, which is also a point I need to do in the parametric modeling.
Part one: Conceptual Mass Modeling
Plane of the Pavilion
East elevation of the Pavilion
After I found the plane and elevation of the project, I began to set up the reference plans in the mass model. And made the volume by using the solid forms.
Beginning creating the mass volume
Then I used the create void form to cut the whole mass into pieces and made them separate.
whole volume cut by the void masses
Final mass model
Parameter values were added to the conceptual mass so that I could adjust the roof and the curtain wall of the main mass body.
Part two: Custom the curtain panel and roof panel
Then I began to work on the wall panel and roof panel and add the parameter to control the added panels. In the mass model, I divided the surface into rectangular and rhomboid unit. After that I created the new family of the curtain panel and reloaded them into the family.
making the surface using the solid forms
adding material parameters
adding frames of the glass
changing the panel system into rhomboid panel
rectangular divided surface pattern applied to conceptual mass
Part three: the Revit project
After the mass model was finished, I reloaded it into a project and placed on a site with a simple environment. Walls and roofs and floors were added to the model.
